Ciaran Mulligan, Joint Managing Director of Gadgetinsurance.ie, said “Consumers are now aware that they are getting ripped off by their mobile phone provider which are charging up to €165 a year for just mobile phone cover, plus they have a much higher excess. Gadgetinsurance.ie provides cover for up to 5 Gadgets for only €79 and worldwide cover includes Accidental Damage (including water) and Theft. Consumers are also realising that some of their Home Insurance Excesses has jumped to €500 or higher which means most of their gadgets are not covered by their home insurance policy anymore or outside of their home”.
Mulligan warned, “don’t wait until your phone gets smashed or has been stolen, which has happened to friends of mine recently, before taking out your policy. Our gadget policy will also suit people who do not have home insurance or contents insurance”.
Spending on gadgets is at an all time high with the the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) reporting that worldwide annual spending on mobile phones, ipads, computers, television sets and other items is expected to rise 10% in 2011 to €964 billion.
